Alia also made her digital debut with her maiden production ‘Darlings’, that was well-received by the audience and critics alike.
2. Janhvi Kapoor
Janhvi Kapoor is leaving no stone unturned to make her mark in the industry. The actress has been choosing diverse roles and she has definitely succeeded in leaving an impact on the audience. Janhvi played the protagonist in ‘Good Luck Jerry’, essaying the role of a daughter who shoulders the burden of her family after her father’s death. Despite the film’s ott release, Janhvi received a lot of appreciation for her performance. 3. Nushrratt Bharuccha
This year, with ‘Janhit Main Jaari’, Nushrratt solely headlined another content rich film and brought a strong subject to the audience. She shattered several stereotypes and played the character of a condom saleswoman, stressing upon the use of contraceptives and it’s importance. This year, the audience also saw her as Professor Gayatri in Ram Setu, opposite Akshay Kumar, wherein she delivered another impressive act and won hearts.
4. Yami Gautam Dhar
This has been a year for Yami to book the entire OTT with her films. Starting the year with an intense and thrilling character in ‘A Thursday’, the actress brought a different intense character in the film. While this was enough for her to show the audience the magic of her acting spectacle, she stepped into yet another different character in ‘Dasvi’ and went on to receive a lot of love from the audience and the critics. Her winning spree continued with her film ‘Lost’ which premiered at the Chicago South Asian Film Festiva and was well received by the international audience and even received a standing ovation.
5. Vidya Balan
Vidya Balan is undoubtedly an epitome of a strong woman as she carries the film on her shoulders. While she just made her appearance in just one film, ‘Jalsa’, she went on to win the hearts of the audience with her amazing performance. Well if this was just enough from the actress, the audience is eagerly waiting to have more of her in the future.
6. Fatima Sana Shaikh
It has been a fruitful year for Fatima. While having impressed the audience with her amazing performance in an anthology, ‘Modern Love Mumbai’, as Lali from Raat Rani, Fatima received a lot of appreciation from the audience and the critic’s for her performance. With Modern Love Mumbai, the actress went on to step into a whole new different character and nailed it with her amazing acting.
7. Shefali Shah
This year is truly dedicated to Shefali Shah in the literal sense. As the actress not only gave back-to-back films and series to the audience, she delivered a range of characters that are different from each other. She totally conquered the OTT arena and how. With ‘Jalsa’, ‘Darlings’, ‘Delhi Crime 2’, and ‘Human’ she delivered back-to-back hits on the OTT. In every single film or web series, Shefali proved her strong presence on the screen while pulling the strong character on her own. Moreover, ‘DOCTOR G’ again brought yet another amazing performance to the audience from the actress.
8. Kareena Kapoor Khan
Kareena Kapoor returned to the silver screen after long and swept away the audience instantly with her performance in ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’. Essaying the layered character of Rupa, Kareena once again proved how seasoned an actor she is.
9. Mouni Roy
Mouni Roy essayed the role of the antagonist in Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’. While the film revolved around Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy left a lasting impact on the audience with her intense and terrific performance.
Kajol’s excellence as an actor needs no description. Essaying the role of the mother of a disabled child, Kajol portrayed emotions with utmost perfection, leaving the audience in tears.
