Six people were killed in ‘unprovoked firing’ at the Assam-Meghalaya border on Tuesday. The incident took place when a team from the Assam forest department tried to intercept a truck allegedly carrying smuggled timber. Later, tensions escalated in Shillong where a SUV was set ablaze in the night. Meghalaya CM said the Assam police fired first. While Assam has ordered a judicial probe in the incident and suspended the SP, Meghalaya curbed mobile internet services in seven districts for 48 hours. Watch this video for more details.
