Besharam Rang Controversy: Complaint Submitted Against Deepika Over Saffron Attire

A complaint has been submitted to Mumbai’s Sakinaka Police against Deepika Padukone’s saffron costume in the Pathaan film’s ‘Besharam Rang’ song. The complaint has requested that a First Information Report (FIR) be filed against the film’s producer, director, actor, and actress, news agency ANI reported on Saturday.

The police have yet to register an FIR.

Union Minister and BJP MP Giriraj Singh challenged Pathaan actor Shah Rukh Khan on Saturday to make a film about Islam and the life of Prophet Muhammad, Times Now reported.

In response to the Pathaan controversy, Singh stated that if the Bollywood celebrity releases a film about Islam and the Prophet, he will consider him secular. According to Giriraj Singh, some Bollywood producers and performers make films to mock Hindus, according to the report.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister, BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, and the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) have strongly condemned Deepika Padukone’s saffron dress and certain parts in the Bollywood film ‘Pathaan,’ according to a report by news agency PTI.

While Sadhvi Pragya has called for a boycott of the Shah Rukh Khan film Pathaan, Mishra and the VHP have urged that the producer and director take immediate measures to remove the problematic elements.

Meanwhile, a complaint petition was submitted before a court in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, requesting an FIR against Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone for “hurting religious emotions” of Hindus in their upcoming film ‘Pathaan”s ‘Besharam Rang’ song.

In the midst of the Pathaan film controversy, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan spoke at the opening ceremony of the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) This sense of negativity typically drives social media consumption, and such pursuits often contain communal narrative and make it more divisive and destructive.

The action-packed thriller ‘Pathaan’ is produced by Yash Raj Films. In addition to SRK and Deepika, John Abraham appears in the film.
‘Pathaan’ is set to be launched on January 25, 2020.
