BREAKING | Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Seeks Time To Meet Governor Amid Political Upheaval

New Delhi: Amid political upheavel in Bihar, Chief Minister and party chief Nitish Kumar has sought for appointment with governor Phagu Chauhan, reported news agency ANI. The move is being seen as JD(U) breaking away with BJP, ending the ruling alliance in the state, and joining hands with the Mahagathbandhan with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) as its major stakeholder, sources told ABP News. Nitish Kumar has sought time between 12:30 pm to 1 pm to meet the governor, which is expected to attend with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, sources told further.

Prior to the meeting, Nalanda MLA Kaushalendra claimed that “BJP tried to break the JD(U).

The meeting occurred following the resignation of RCP Singh, who headed JD(U) for the last one-and-a-half years. After Singh resigned from the party, sources reported that he is in touch with some MLAs raising doubts of the ‘Maharashtra MVA-like situation’ by the BJP following which Nitish Kumar called for a meeting of party MLAs and MPs.

Simultaneously, the Rashtriya Janata Dal is also holding a party of its legislators on the command of Tejashwi Yadav at his mother Rabri Devi’s residence which is a stone throw away Circular Road bungalow, a stone’s throw from the CM’s Anney Marg residence.

A day earlier, the RJD national vice president, Shivanand Tiwaryhad said that the party is ready to “embrace” JD(U) if Nitish Kumar agrees to break ranks with its ally.

Amid the political conundrum, a section of the media also reported that Nitish Kumar spoke to Congress interim President over the phone “We are yet to get official info on Nitish Kumar speaking with Sonia Gandhi but we don’t contradict it,” ANI quoted Bihar Congress chief Madan Mohan Jha as saying.
