Bridal hair care: Guide to lush hair on your wedding day


Don’t we all get crazy worrying about our hair. We do so many DIYs, and use the best products available in the stores to get those healthy, shiny locks. If a regular hair care can give us so much sweat, imagine it being your wedding time. This will take your worries a 100-notch higher, but we are here to give you some of the most well-kept secrets that can literally make your mane the crown you wear on your wedding day. To start with, you cannot think that hair care is a day’s job. It will take a minimum of a month’s care, you will have to be regular with your hair spas, hair treatments, oiling, massages, and DIY’s. You just can’t leave hair care for a few days from the wedding.

There is nothing that a good oil massage can’t fix. Mix 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of castor oil, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, and 2 drops of rosemary essential oil. Massage the scalp thoroughly with this mixture. Keep the oil on for 30 minutes. Wash off.

We know how busy the bride is, with so many errands to run, try this quick super effective hair mask that you can make at home when you are struggling with time. Mix 1 banana, 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel, and 1 teaspoon olive oil. Grind these together in a mixer and make a smooth paste. Apply it evenly to your hair and leave it on for 20 minutes & rinse it off with lukewarm water.

It’s your special day and all the eyes would be on you but your hair can play a spoilsport as they are being subjected to too much stress internally and externally as well. To give your hair instant shine take a freshly grounded ginger root, put it in a spray bottle, and add water to it. Spray this before washing your hair. You can also add the juice of ginger to your conditioner, it will hydrate your hair and curb your split ends as well.

If you are not a big fan of ginger and feel uncomfortable with that you can just use 4-5 drops of ylang ylang essential oil, put them on your palm, and massage them in your roots and tresses. This will give your hair an instant shine and make your hair smell so good.

We all are aware of the magical powers of aloe vera gel, the enzymes in aloe vera can heal any sort of fungus that might exist on your scalp and leave your hair smooth. Take 1/4th cup of aloe vera gel, mix 1 ¼ cup of tipped water to it, add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to it, and pour this into a spray bottle. Give it a good shake before spraying it evenly in your hair. Let it rest for 20 minutes and then rinse it off.

Make it a habit to use a hair pack every fortnight, it’s important to nourish your hair and give them the treatment they deserve. A great DIY pack that anyone can make easily at home is by mixing 1 ripe banana with 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel. Grind it well in a mixer, make a smooth paste and apply it evenly to your hair. Keep it on for 20-30 mins and rinse it off. Don’t worry if the banana gets stuck in your hair, it might take a wash or 2 to completely get out of your hair.

An after-shampoo apple cider vinegar rinse can do wonders to your hair, retaining the pH level of your scalp and leaving you with soft, shiny, and smooth hair. And those who have hair colour, for them it is even more beneficial as it brings out the hair colour better. Mix 1 teaspoon of shampoo, castor oil, glycerine, and apple cider vinegar in a bowl. Apply the pack to wet hair and scalp. Leave it on for 10-20 minutes and rinse off with a mild shampoo.
