Congress’ New Video Against Inflation Features ‘Ae Watan’ Song, Poetry, Rahul Gandhi | WATCH


New Delhi: In order to step up its protest against Centre over inflation and other issues, the Congress party on Friday released a video which featured its leader Rahul Gandhi. A 23 second video shared by the party, shows Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other party leaders in a bus after being detained while patriotic song ‘Ae Watan…Humko Teri Kasam’ plays in the background. The video was tweeted with a Hindi poetry caption which roughly translates to “We Have brought flood of tears of the poor.. Take care if you can, dictator rulers.”  It speaks of a “revolution for the motherland”, referencing “inquilab” and “Vande Mataram”.

The patriotic song, ‘Ae Watan…Humko Teri Kasam’ is from the movie Shaheed released in the year 1965 starring Manoj Kumar who potrayed the role of Bhagat Singh. The song was written by Prem Dhawan and sung by Mohammed Rafi.

The Congress party on Friday held a massive nationwide protested against the Centre against price rise, unemployment, and Goods and Service Tax (GST). Rahul Gandhi also addressed a press conference earlier in the day cladding a balck band on his left arm as a symbol of protest amid the nationwide protest. 

At the conference held on Friday, Rahul Gandhi launched a ferocious attack on the Modi government. He said that the manner in which the Centre has unleashed central agencies against opposition demonstrates India is witnessing the “onset of dictatorship”
