To chalk out next course of action in reaction to massive crackdown on Waris Punjab De chief and his supporters in Punjab, Akal Takht acting jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh on Wednesday called a Panthic gathering on March 27 at the highest Sikh temporal seat.

As per a poster released by the office of Akal Takht, the gathering is called for planning the future strategy by holding discussion on the circumstances prevailing in Punjab, long lasting unrest in the minds of Sikh youths and their recent arrests.
“Representatives of all the Sikh organisations, seminaries, sects, Nihang organisations, intellectuals, lawyers, journalists, students’ organisations and religious and social societies have been invited to the gathering that will start on 12noon,” said Jaspal Singh, personal assistant to the jathedar.
The meeting was announced a day after the jathedar issued fresh statement on the Punjab Police operation, stating that, “governments must initiate talk with the Sikhs” to find amicable solution of their issues, if they want to stabilise Punjab.
In a video message, he said, “I feel the governments are creating an atmosphere of terror without any reason. Internet was suspended. This is why the rumours are influencing people and we are not getting accurate information. Efforts are being made to destabilise Punjab”.
