A man allegedly opened fire at his father in an attempt to kill him after he was refused money for drugs in Bihar’s Purnea. The accused, who was a drug addict, also set a bike on fire outside his house.

The father, Hiralal Sah, somehow managed to save his life and escape from the house, following which he reached Rupauli Police station in Purnea and informed the police about the incident. Upon receiving information, Mahadev Kamat along with his team reached the house and arrested the accused, Ranjan Kumar.

Talking about the incident, Kamat said, “The accused, Ranjan, who is a drug addict, had asked his father for money to buy drugs, which he refused. Enraged, Ranjan opened fire at his father and set a bike alaze outside his house.”

During the search of the house, a pistol, ten munitions, a dagger, a burnt motorcycle and a mobile phone were recovered, Kamat said. He further added that a case has been registered against the accused under various sections including the Arms Act and he has been sent to jail under judicial custody.
