MUMBAI: A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing valuables from his former employer’s house in Worli.

On March 25, a case was registered by the Dadar police based on the complaint filed by Sultan Kapoor a resident of Adarsh Nagar in Worli. Kapoor had told the police that while they were sleeping somebody had entered their house through the French window and had fled with cash of ₹3.44 lakhs and other valuables.
The police had accordingly registered a case for house trespass and theft. “We started investigations and went through the CCTVs in the area,” said Mahesh Mugutrao, senior police inspector of Dadar police station.
The police found a person whom they suspected to be involved in the theft and showed the footage to the owner, who identified him as his ex-employee Anil Sav, a Jharkhand native.
“We immediately got his recent mobile number and started tracing it. We found that he was travelling to Ranchi in Jharkhand by train and picked him up from Ranchi,” said Ramkrishna Sagade, assistant police inspector of Dadar police station. The police said they recovered cash ₹3.02 lakhs from him.
“His owner has a gift paper packing unit and he used to work there. In 2020, there was theft at the owner’s house and all the employees were questioned. That time Sav resigned claiming that despite haven’t done anything, the owner suspected him. Again in 2021 there was a theft and at that time also the owner did not register a case, as the amount was less,” said Sagade.
