Fully Support India’s Efforts To Control Situation: US On India-China Clash At Arunachal LAC

New Delhi: The United States has supported India’s efforts at controlling the situation after the fresh clash between Indian and Chinese troops near Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh along the Line of Actual Control. In a statement, Pentagon Press Secretary Pat Ryder said, “We will continue to remain steadfast in our commitment to ensure the security of our partners. We fully support India’s efforts to control the situation.”

“Department of Defense continues to watch developments along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at India-China border, We have seen People’s Republic of China (PRC) continues to amass forces & build military infrastructure along so-called LAC,” he added. 

“It is important to point out the growing trend by the PRC to assert itself & be proactive in areas directed toward the US allies and our partners in Indo-Pacific,” Ryder said in his statement. 

Soldiers of both the countries clashed on December 9 in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on December 9. Both sides suffered minor injuries in the skirmish.

While China’s military on Tuesday said that Indian troops ‘illegally’ crossed the “disputed” border on December 9, its foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin asserted that the situation along the border with India was “generally stable”.  

“As far as we know, the current border situation between China and India is generally stable. As for the specific questions you mentioned, I suggest you refer to the competent authorities,” Wang responded to a question on the clash.
