Gauri Khan Opens Up On Aryan Khan’s Arrest, Says ‘Nothing Can Be Worse…’

New Delhi: The latest episode of ‘Koffee With Karan Season 7’ featured a brand-new trio on the couch. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri Khan returned to the couch after 17 years and she was joined by close friends Maheep Kapoor and Bhavana Pandey, who marked their debut on the show.  The three guests opened up about their personal lives and also had some fun conversations on many things including airport looks and Bollywood parties.

During the episode, Gauri spoke about her son Aryan’s arrest and all that followed. Without taking Aryan’s name, Karan said: “It’s been such a tough time for (Shah Rukh Khan) not just professionally but recently with everything the family went through personally. You all have emerged so strongly.”

“As a family, I know it hasn’t been easy. I know you as a mother and him as a father, and all of us like we’re members of the same family. I feel like I’m your children’s Godparent as well. It hasn’t been easy but Gauri I’ve seen you come out even stronger.

He added: “What do you have to say about your own way of handling tough times when families go through something like that.”

Talking about it, Gauri said: “Yes, as a family, we’ve been through… I think nothing can be worse than what we’ve just been through, obviously, as a mother, as a parent.”

She added: “But today, where we stand as a family, I can say that we are in a great space where we feel loved by everyone.”

The superstar’s wife shared that she is grateful to all those who stood by them during their tough times.

“And all our friends, and so many people who we did not know. So many messages and so much of love and I just feel blessed. And I would say I’m grateful to all the people who have helped us through this.”

Aryan was arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with an alleged drug bust onboard a cruise ship in October last year. After spending 25 days in jail, he was released on bail. He got a clean chit from the NCB this year.

Gauri also spoke about her professional life and said that being Shah Rukh Khan’s wife often works against her, as opposed to benefitting her. Gauri is a successful entrepreneur with a leading interior decorating business. She also recently debuted as a TV host with her own reality show, Dream Homes.

“When considering a new project, there are some people who consider me as a designer. But there are also times when it does not work out that way because at times, sometimes people do not want to get attached to the baggage of working with Shah Rukh Khan’s wife. It works against me 50% of the time,” she shared.

She also revealed habits about Shah Rukh Khan that annoy her. “He is always seeing off the guest to their car. Sometimes I feel like he spends more time outside than inside the hour during parties. Then people start looking for him. It makes me feel like we are having the party outside on the road rather than inside the house!”, Gauri Khan said.

During the rapid-fire round, Gauri Khan mentioned that Aryan Khan is her ‘fashion police’. “I am not allowed to wear full sleeve shirts. I am not allowed to wear many things,” Gauri said.

One piece of dating advice that she had for her daughter Suhana was to never date two people at one time.

Apart from this, Maheep also opened up about the difficult times that she and her family faced, as Sanjay Kapoor’s career had several ups and downs. “There were times when Sanjay was sitting at home for years with no work. Money was tight. My kids have grown up seeing that along with the glamour and glitz,” she said on the show.

Being part of one of Bollywood’s biggest families also did not make life any easier, “The people around me at times did make me feel like we were the unsuccessful wing of the Kapoor family,” she added.

The seventh season of Koffee with Karan has featured Alia Bhatt-Ranveer Singh, Samantha Ruth Prabhu-Akshay Kumar, Janhvi Kapoor-Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Panday-Vijay Deverakonda, Kiara Advani-Shahid Kapoor, Tiger Shroff-Kriti Sanon, Katrina Kaif-Siddhant Chaturvedi-Ishaan Khatter and Anil Kapoor-Varun Dhawan.
