The Pimpri-Chinchwad police on Saturday arrested a 20-year-old man for killing his wife over financial and family disputes.
The accused, identified as Chunmun Vishwamitra Singh (20) is a resident of Tapkir chawl in Kalewadi. The deceased has been identified as Jayashree Chunmun Singh (19).
According to police officials, the incident occurred at 11.30 am on Saturday at their residence. The couple eloped and married in August 2022. However, there were often heated arguments related to financials between them. On Saturday, during one such argument, the husband got agitated and strangulated the wife.
Satyawan Mane, senior police inspector at Wakad police station said, “The accused killed his wife at their rented house in Kalewadi due to a financial dispute. We have arrested the accused and further investigation is underway.”
A case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Wakad police station.
