NIA Arrests Seventh Person In Connection With Udaipur Tailor’s Killing

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another accused, identified as Farhad Mohammad Sheikh, in connection with the brutal murder of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, Rajasthan last month. This is the seventh arrest so far in the Kanhaiya murder case. The arrested youth is said to be close to Riyaz Attari, a spokesperson said on Sunday as reported by news agency PTI. He was a “close criminal associate” of Riaz Akhtari, one of the two main accused, and took an active part in the conspiracy to kill the tailor, the spokesperson said.

Kanhaiya was beheaded with a knife inside his tailoring shop on June 28. The gruesome attack on the tailor by Riyaz Attari was recorded by Ghaus Mohammad on his phone and the video was posted online. Taking responsibility for the killing, he later said in another video that he had killed Kanhaiya to avenge the alleged insult to Islam.

However, hours after the murder, both the main accused were arrested by the Rajasthan Police. After this four more people were arrested.
