Oval Cricket Stadium Goes Under Snow. Netizens React As Video Goes Viral

As the United Kingdom experiences cold weather and witnesses the first snowfall of the season, a video has now gone viral on the internet which shows one of the nation’s iconic cricketing venues covered in a thick layer of snow. In the short clip, the entire cricket facility including the pitch and the stands can be seen covered with snow which makes for a picturesque view.

While an image of The Oval after the snowfall was shared by the official handle of Surrey Cricket, several videos have also made their way online. Netizens have also reacted to the video with several of them awestruck by the beautiful visual. “OMG look at that. What beauty ❤️,” wrote one user. “Looks like a scene from a Disney movie…..magical,” wrote another.

A few users joked that the ball might seam around in these conditions. “Ball will seam in this condition lol,” a tweet read. “Might be a bit of moisture in the surface, I’d have a bowl,” said another post on social media.

World Test Championship final likely to be played at the Oval: Reports

Earlier, reports had emerged that the World Test Championship (WTC) final be played at the Oval beginning on June 7, 2023. Although an official confirmation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) is still awaited, a reported carried out by Cricbuzz had claimed that much like the final of the 2019-21 cycle of the WTC which was played in Southampton, the 2021-23 final will have the provision of a reserve day.

If the WTC final is confirmed to happen on the said date, it could be pretty close to the Indian Premier League (IPL) final which, the same report has claimed could happen on May 28 or June 4. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) could tweak in the IPL schedule a bit in case India qualify for the WTC final.
