Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G 5G Launch Specs Features Mid Range Android Smartphones Details

US-based chip-making giant Qualcomm has unveiled the successor to the 778G+ mobile platform, the Snapdragon 782G chipset. The Snapdragon 782G chip is said to be quite similar to the Snapdragon 778G+ albeit for a few minor upgrades.

According to San Diego-California headquartered Qualcomm, the SD 782G’s CPU performance is 5 per cent better than the Snapdragon 778G+. The Adreno 642L GPU in the new chip is 10 per cent more powerful than the previous-generation mobile platform for mid-range Android smartphones. The chipset can drive Full HD+ screens at 144Hz and 4K screens at 60Hz. It supports up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

To begin with, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G is built on a 6nm process with an 8-core Kryo 670 processor and an Adreno 642L GPU, which is again similar to the Snapdragon 778G+. In terms of improvements over the Snapdragon 778G+, the Snapdragon 782G’s (SM7325-AF) CPU features one Cortex-A78 (Kryo 670 Prime) core clocked at 2.7GHz, three Cortex-A78 (Kryo 670 Gold) cores clocked at 2.2GHz and four Cortex-A55 (Kryo 670 Silver) cores clocked at 1.9GHz.

Similar to the 778G+, the Snapdragon 782G brings Quick Charge 4+ (which claims to give up to 50 per cent charge in 15 minutes), and hasthe same Fused AI Accelerator architecture, the same Qualcomm Spectra ISP with triple 14-bit ISP support, and the ability to process up to 2 gigapixels per sec, and up to 200MP camera resolution support.

To recall, Qualcomm introduced its latest premium mobile platform, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, at the Snapdragon Summit 2022 last week. The top-tier processor will be adopted by global smartphone players, including OnePlus, Oppo, Redmi, Asus Republic of Gamers, Honor, Motorola, nubia, Sharp, Sony Corporation, Xiaomi and ZTE, among others.

The first smartphones to launch with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 are expected to be unveiled at the end of this year.

“We are passionate about enabling people to do more, so we design Snapdragon with the user at the center. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, will revolutionise the landscape of flagship smartphones in 2023,” Chris Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Handsets, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., had said in a statement.
